IADC Caspian Chapter's 2nd quarterly meeting is held

The next quarterly meeting of the Caspian Chapter of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) was held in Baku on March 30, 2018.

At the meeting attended by Mr. Hisham Zebian, IADC Regional Representative for the Middle East and Africa, the final action plan of the Chapter for 2018 was discussed.

It should be noted that in the action plan of the Chapter, the development of cooperation between the member companies and universities and the training of skilled personnel in the drilling industry were mentioned as one of the priority areas.

Thus, the Student Affairs Committee under the IADC will launch campaigns for the Internship Program, Scholarship Contests and current vacancies announced by the leading oil and gas industry companies for students.

Coordinators operating under the status of "Ambassador-Student" will play a role of a bridge between universities and member organizations and will contribute to the expanding of bilateral relations.

It should be noted that currently, students of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Baku Higher Oil School, and Azerbaijan-France University are represented at the Student Affairs Committee of the IADC's Caspian Chapter.

Also, the Chapter's current-year action plan also envisages implementation of socially-oriented projects.

At the same time, quarterly sessions focus on new projects implemented by partner organizations and presentation sessions on new techniques and technologies applied in the oil and gas industry.

In the current meeting, the representative of the US NOV Company made a presentation on the latest innovations in the automation of drilling rigs.

It should be noted that even though the IADC's Caspian Chapter is operational in the short term, the number of organizations wishing to become a member of the Committee is increasing. Currently, the number of member organizations is 28.

The IADC is based in Houston, USA, and is a non-profit organization that unites around 1,600 members involved in oil and gas exploration, well construction, exploitation, oilfield equipment production and related services.

IADC has been regularly supporting its partners in applying standards ensuring safe and efficient drilling in about 70 years.
