SOCAR AQS attended the Responsible Business Conference organized by UN

The Responsible Business Conference, organized by UN, was held in Baku on 26 November 2019.  During the event attended by SOCAR AQS, the leading Azerbaijani businesses discussed the implementation of the principles of the UN Global Compact and Sustainable Development Goals in their activity and strategies.

 

Role of business was the main topic of discussion in implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development during the event attended by the representatives of government agencies, businesses, international organizations and civil society. The importance of integration of 10 principles of the UN Global Compact into business policies and practices was highlighted during the conference jointly organized by the UN Resident Coordinator Office, UNICEF, the UN Global Compact, UN Women and the United Nations Development Program.

 

Participants discussed successful examples of sustainable business practices and ways of integrating Sustainable Development Goals (DIMs) into companies' financial, operational and decision-making processes during the seminars which were held within the framework of conference.  Speakers also spoke about the role of businesses in supporting the principles of gender equality and promotion of women in the corporate environment.

 

Established in 2000, the UN Global Compact offers a framework for creating more sustainable and responsible businesses. The UN Global Compact, bringing together 10,000 companies and 3,000 non-profit organizations from over 160 countries, as well as more than 60 local networks, is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world today.
